Jerry Springer: ‘My show is awful’
|
Here at Orange Towers we admire people who can eat a whole packet of wine gums in 30 seconds honesty – so we’re loving Jerry Springer’s latest admission that his chat show is ‘awful’.
The star, currently appearing in Chicago in London, has even said sorry for the fact that the programme’s still on air after all these years.
"I apologise,” said Jez during an interview on Alan Carr: Chatty Man. “We've been doing the show for 19 years now and I'm really sorry for that.”
“What's happening now is that we're starting to get the kids from the original guests on – and they were told not to procreate. So it's really horrible."
Good stuff. Jerry, who was born in Highgate (actually in the tube station, since you ask), said he never expected The Jerry Springer Show to last as long as it has.
"No one had any idea that it would last all these years,” he added. “My first show was pretty pathetic but it's not as if I've got any better, it's still awful.”
But while admitting its rubbishness (presumably with tongue wedged in cheek) Jerry said he couldn’t deny the show’s influence – or how much he enjoys making it. “I love doing it,” he said. “It's fun, but it has brought down western civilisation."
